Osteopathy and the workplace...

Whether at a computer terminal or in heavy industry, work can give rise to disorders of muscles, tendons and joints, particularly in the back, hands and arms.

Typical complaints treated by osteopathy that are caused by workplace strain include:

  • Muscle and tendon injuries
  • Low back pain
  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Computer hump
  • Repetitive strain injury

Most of these are often caused by manual handling and lifting, forceful or repetitive movements, or unsuitable postures.

Workplace stress can also lead to tension in the body, which in turn can lead to various aches and pains.

By rebalancing the musculoskeletal system, osteopathy can usually help to relieve many of the symptoms caused by workplace strain.

Our osteopaths also provide guidance and support to help the individual change his or her lifestyle or postural habits, in order to maintain optimal balance in the body and prevent future suffering.

    For the employer

For years, a number of large companies have retained osteopaths as part of their permanent company health teams.

Many smaller companies have also benefited from liaison with their local osteopaths.

Having an osteopath involved in your staff care programmes can lead to a fitter workforce, improved morale, increased productivity and less time off through ill health.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss options for introducing osteopathy into your staff care programme.
